The Similan & Surin Islands are widely regarded as one of Thailand’s premier liveaboard diving regions. Named after the Malay word sembilan, meaning “nine”, the Similan Islands form a chain of granite islands within a protected marine national park that also includes Koh Bon and Koh Tachai. Further north, the remote Surin Islands and Richelieu Rock add pristine reefs and rich marine life to the itinerary. Above water, verdant landscapes, dramatic granite boulders, and white sandy beaches create a striking setting, while below the surface, crystal-clear waters reveal vibrant coral reefs, schooling fish, and pelagic encounters that place the Similan and Surin Islands among the top dive destinations in Thailand and Southeast Asia

Maps & Itinerary
Diving around the Similan & Surin Islands National Parks in Thailand is best experienced on a liveaboard dive boat, and this itinerary covers both. This 6-night liveaboard safari combines the Similan Islands with Kon Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock as well as the Surin Islands.
The itinerary allows up to 19 dives, including the possibility of 4 sunset/night dives at some of the best dive sites in the Andaman Sea. Sharks, manta rays, whip rays, barracuda, turtles, anemones, harlequin shrimp and wondrous soft corals all await the eager diver. You will also have the opportunity to go ashore and enjoy the beautiful beaches and views in the Similan Islands, and to visit a Moken Village in the Surin Islands.
On a typical day, we offer up to 4 day dives, although, where possible, the last dive of the day may be scheduled as a night dive when the boat is anchored within a lagoon. The diving day is usually scheduled as follows:
- Light Breakfast followed by a briefing and dive 1
- Full Breakfast and relaxation period
- Briefing and dive 2
- Lunch and relaxation period
- Briefing and dive 3
- Snacks and relaxation period
- Briefing and dive 4, where possible*
- Dinner
* Where a 4th dive is possible, it may be a day dive or sunset/night dive, depending on where the boat is located.
PLEASE NOTE: The itinerary above is an example only and is subject to change depending on local regulations, divers’ experience, weather conditions and logistics and is at the Captain’s discretion. Adverse weather can affect the diving and cruising schedule which includes several overnight sailings.
